Being in Nature on a regular basis helps us to connect body, mind and spirit energetically and leaves you rejuvenated and with a sense of grounding. For those that are drawn by the calling of Intuition and nature, these walks make for a great way to meet like-minded, soulful individuals who share similar interests.

A reminder for those who have not been on the walks before, the walks are intended to be of such a nature that we are  able to slow down and through our senses, experience some of the wonders that nature has to offer. The slowing down creates an opportunity for re-connection within. Not to mention seeing some of Cape Town's magical spots.

The reason for the unpredictability of the bloom lies in the fact that although Nieuwoudtville has a Mediterranean climate (dry summers and wet winters) the triggering factor for flowering is a late summer spill-over of rain from the neighbouring summer system, which does not occur every year. I have listed some of the places we will be visiting below.

Bontebok numbers have increased from a mere 17 in the park to around 3 000 world-wide.

Cost: R 900.00 per person or if you are not able to pay the full amount, then a 50% deposit to secure your booking with the balance to be paid on the 1st of August  2017. This will be a self- catering option, with shared communal dinner. You will cater for your own breakfast and Lunch.

What is on offer: Our visit to Bontebok Nature Reserve. Thanks to the conservation efforts of Bontebok National Park, the species of antelope after which it is named, has been brought back from the brink to roam freely in sustainable numbers. The park offers three nature walks – allowing you to take a gentle stroll through the unique fynbos environment or alongside the Breede River.

Red Hartebeest, Grey Rhebok, Steenbok, and Grysbok are also about, commonly amidst the Park's founding species. In addition, there are 8 of the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra that visitors can see.  The Park has various carnivore species including Caracal, Bat-Eared Fox, Cape Fox, and Aardwolf. Although these species are mostly nocturnal there have been day sightings of Bat Eared Foxes and Aardwolf. There are various Mongoose Species and the Breede River provides a perfect setting for Cape Clawless Otter. Bontebok National Park is an excellent place for birding - with vast open landscapes and plenty of natural viewing spots.

There is something in bloom year round with the peak flower season in the spring. The vegetation is fynbos and characterized by four major plant types: restioids, ericoids, proteoids, and geophytes. Coastal Renosterveld is a part of this vegetation biome and is found in limited areas. It usually grows in highly fertile soils.

It doesn’t include the CapeNature Conservation fee (currently R40.00 per adult and payable on entry) – if you have a WildCard or are staying in the reserve, you don’t pay this. Bring your own lunch and we will have lunch on the picnic area after the event. Many of you might have hiked here along the Palmiet River in Tubing Adventure with Gravity Adventures. Here is a unique chance to see the Reserve in a whole new way

What is on offer:  This will be a private group. It makes no difference whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced pro. The Palmiet River Experience is suitable for all ages and skill levels - we provide qualified and registered guides with an intimate knowledge of the river and its environment and instruction on how to steer your craft. And since all of the rapids are optional, the trip is even suitable for those who prefer a more relaxed excursion.

Here’s a link to a video of the river at tubing levels - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gljKlJ21Xxg

Gravity pioneered rafting and tubing on the Palmiet – we even designed the one person craft known as ‘Gekos’ that are now used by operators across the country. We have 16 years experience of running this river and are confident that we will give you the best experience possible. The Palmiet River, near Kleinmond, offers fantastic river action almost all year round; Set in the stunning surrounds of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the Palmiet is a friendly stream in summer, while winter rains turn it into a whitewater playground. We are equipped to enjoy the river at all levels – at lower levels. Our one person ‘gekos’ (inflatable tubes with floors) are a total blast, at medium levels. The Palmiet offers fun and exciting whitewater in a stunning natural environment, just one hour from Cape Town – unbeatable!

This an awesomely fun way to spend the day with like-minded people. All are welcome to join, so bring your partner and or your friends and I look forward to you joining us ;-) - Located just 110min / 110km from Cape Town

Soulful Summer End of Year Weekend Away – Friday 24th – 26th November 2017 – Merwenstein Guest Farm near Bonnievale in the Breede River Valley and the majestic Cogmanskloof Hiking Trail. This will be the last weekend away in November for the year and this will be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy friendship with like-minded people. Merwenstein Guest Farm close to Bonnievale is where we will be staying and the majestic Cogmanskloof Hiking Trail will be one of the big highlights of the weekend in Montagu. Merwenstein Guest Farm is situated in the panoramic Breede River Valley, close to Bonnievale offering the perfect location to explore the local area. The highlight of the weekend will certainly be the Cogmanskloof HikingTrail, located just outside Montagu. This 13km has beautiful views, amazing rock formations and wild indigenous flowers as well as fynbos, which is the natural vegetation only found in a small area of the Western Cape. The stunning up close view of the Cape folded mountains will certainly be a treat for the senses. Merwenstein Guest Farm near Bonnievale and 40 km from Robertson will certainly be the “perfect luxurious end of year venue” with all the comforts as it fully equipped, with a big open plan entertainment room, with a fully equipped kitchen, indoor fireplace, seating for 18 people, in 8 bedrooms. There are hammocks in the garden, lots of birds around and within walking distance to the Breede River.

Cost: R 1050.00 per person or if you are not able to pay the full amount, then a 50% deposit to secure your booking with the balance to be paid on the 1st of September  2017. This will be a self- catering option, with shared communal dinner. You will cater for your own breakfast and Lunch.

What is on offer: Two trails – On Saturday we will be doing the Circular Cogmanskloof Trail that is 13km hike that starts and finishes at the Old Meul just outside Montagu, in the Montagu Mountain Nature Reserve. While on the trail, we will be able to notice the many vertical rock faces - a prime example of the Cape fold mountains. Particular in Donkerkloof near the start and on the ridge of Cogmanskloof trail where the past is sliced open and you'll see back 450million years when this ground was under the glaciers of Gondwana. 200 million years later the "party" started and the crusts of the earth were pushed up, creating these striking rock formations we see today. The lower area of the trails around the Ou Meul and the cabin on quartzitic sandstone of the Nardow subgroup while the upper area of Bloupunt is of quartzitic sandstone, siltstone and shale conglomerate of the Peninsular formation.

On Sunday morning we will do one of the shorter trails on the Guest Farm. This will be optional or you can just chill out on one of the hammocks in the spacious gardens.  Our stay will be near a new moon, so the stargazing will be awesome. More time will be offered for relaxation for this end of the year event.

"VERY IMPORTANT & NEW Joining Requirements"

Please email first with your cell number or call me directly (Do not just mark yourself as going on Facebook / Meetup) to check for availability and to book on - iain@awakening-intuition.com or for more info, contact Iain Macdonald on Tel: 072 3272840 or 021 4626755 - This event is booked in advance due to limit availability of the permits and the accommodation in the area to ensure availability.

There are only two requirements to join this event. One is that we have spoken on the telephone so that I can to give you a sense of what is on offer before you book. The other is that you need to have done one of the regular Sunday walks that I offer in the past 6 months or at least one of the regular walks in the six months leading up to the event. This structure/qualifying requirement has been put in place so that I can gauge your fitness levels & meet you in person and determine whether you will be able to cope with the hike on offer. Joining in on at one of the walks before the event, also enhances the sense of soulful connectedness, as you will know some of the people going. The weekends away offer a combination of an adventure of soulfulness, relaxation, group sharing of the day’s experience and time out is allocated for quiet time. By joining a walk I also get a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer in person. This weekend away will be suitable for most levels of fitness. This extra time on the trails on these weekends away provides time to connect with the beauty of nature, including plenty of opportunity for taking pictures. There is also own time allocated on these weekends to explore the beauty of the place where we are staying. Often there is an opportunity to swim if it’s warm enough.
